How is it supported for kids with ASD. What type of support is provided for children with Autism during their snowboard session?
Just like our other events children with ASD have a 2 to 1 ratio (1 snowboard instructor and 1 support worker to 1 child). Depending on the child sometimes 3 to 1. We will provide the instructors and trained support workers.
What happens when our child/ren retains a spot?
You will be sent another form to fill out. It will be a behavioural profile form for your child with ASD. This form is where we will get to know your child and how we can best tailor the lesson for him/her to have a successful day.
Are parents allowed to join their kids on the hill?
During their sessions parents are not allowed to join them down the hill. We ask all parents to fade back once their child is paired with instructor and support worker. Parents are free to watch from the top of the hill from the viewing platform. *parents are to always be with their kids at all times, except during the session times at this time we ask you stay in the viewing area and do not leave. Do not leave any child on the hill by themselves.*
Do my kids need experience to snowboard?
No they do not. The kids will stay on the beginner hill during their session and will not progress to another part of the mountain.
Do I need to have my own equipment and lift ticket?
Mt Seymour is providing FREE lift tickets and FREE rental for your child’s lesson! Snowboard, boots and helmet are provided! You must provide your own outerwear. Weather proof jacket, pants and gloves.
